Music, being identical with heaven, isn’t a thing of momentary thrills, or even hourly ones. It’s a condition of eternity.
— Gustav Holst

outreach

Gustav Holst once called music “a condition of eternity” and “identical to heaven,” for we carry the bliss we experience while listening to it with us for our entire lives. The complex emotions we associate with music shape who we are, and it only takes a few notes to instantly transport us back in time to our most treasured memories.

Perhaps it is not surprising that something so powerful has also been proven to reduce stress, enhance productivity, and augment communication for people of all ages. Music brings people together, strengthening families and friendships. Indeed, it is no exaggeration to say that music is a kind of medicine.

OCMS firmly believes in the healing capabilities of chamber music and works tirelessly to bring this gift to people in need.
